Surfing the web on your tablet in the park, quickly checking your emails in a café or sending a quick message to your loved ones. What has long been part of everyday life for many citizens in large cities is now also becoming increasingly prevalent in rural areas.
The state government of Rhineland-Palatinate has agreed in its coalition agreement to expand Internet coverage in public places and tourist locations. This makes Rhineland-Palatinate one of the first federal states to move towards a broad digital future.
The state government hopes that this will both enhance the municipalities and their tourist attractions and close gaps in the mobile phone network. This modern infrastructure expansion increases the attractiveness of the communities and enables all population groups to participate in a contemporary digital lifestyle.
To implement this, the state of Rhineland-Palatinate issued a Europe-wide call for tenders for a Wi-Fi framework agreement with a comprehensive list of criteria. The aim of the framework agreement is to offer all municipalities more economical conditions than would have been possible with individual contracts. The Cloud was selected as the winner of the tender by the state government in an extensive process.
From the outset, the Wifi4RLP project focused on providing a particularly simple and fast user experience – both for local authorities and for the many users. The Cloud finds the best individual solution for each individual contract partner while keeping costs manageable.
The Cloud offers comprehensive support from a single source. The complete package, from the initial inspection to installation, operation and maintenance.
It is also very easy for citizens to use. Thanks to one-click registration, you can be online in seconds. After that, anyone can surf the internet anonymously and free of charge, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Cloud ensures that no illegal content is used or distributed.
